Why I Pushed Through Pain for Over 15 Years and What Finally Changed

I want to tell you something I rarely say out loud.

For over 15 years, I was in pain. Every day. And I kept going.

I kept running my business. I kept showing up for my family. I kept smiling. I kept telling people I was fine. And some days I even convinced myself.

What was actually happening

I woke up tired. Not "had a bad night" tired. The kind of tired that sleep doesn't touch. The kind that sits in your bones before your feet even hit the floor.

My back hurt. It had hurt for so long that I'd stopped noticing it as pain. It was just... me. Just how I was built. That's what I told myself.

I pushed through meetings, deadlines, dinners, weekends. Holidays where I spent more time lying down than I'd ever admit to anyone.

And the sleep. The sleep was its own problem.

I'd lie there, bone-deep exhausted, and I couldn't drift off. Or I'd fall asleep and wake at 3am, mind racing, body aching, staring at the ceiling.

I tried everything

Physiotherapy. Medication. Rest. Better food. Less stress, or at least, trying to create less stress while running a business and raising a family, which, if you've ever attempted that, you know is its own kind of impossible.

Nothing held. Nothing lasted.

And slowly, quietly, I started to believe this was just who I was now.

The thought I never said out loud

You don't say it, do you?

You say you're tired. You say you've been busy. You say you just need a good week, a holiday, a bit of sleep.

You don't say: I think I might not get better.

But that's what I thought. In the quiet. At 3am.

What I had got wrong

I wasn't failing. My body wasn't broken.

It was responding, completely logically, to years of overload. To years of giving everything outward and very little inward. To a system that had been running on fumes for so long, it had lost its ability to fully recover.

The pain wasn't a flaw. It was a signal.

The broken sleep wasn't weakness. It was information.

The exhaustion wasn't the end. It was my body asking, very loudly, by that point, for something different.

Something shifted

I found an approach I hadn't come across before. A method developed in Germany, based on how the body's own recovery systems work, and what happens when those systems stop functioning the way they should.

I want to be clear: I'm not saying it cured me. What I can say is that it gave my body the support it needed to start doing what it was always designed to do. And the change, in my pain, my sleep, my energy, was real, and it was lasting.

That's what The Recovery Signal is built on. My own lived experience of that process, and the structured support I now offer to other women going through something similar.

If any of this sounds familiar, I want you to know this: you are not broken, and you are not out of options.

In my next post, I'll explain what finally changed, and why it made such a difference.
