I told you I'd come back and explain what changed.
So here it is.
But I want to say something first. Because I know what it's like to read someone else's story and feel that quiet thought rise up, that won't be for me.
I had that thought. About a lot of things. Over a lot of years.
I wasn't looking for it
By the time I found the approach that changed things, I had actually stopped looking.
I had tried enough. Hoped enough. Been disappointed enough times that hope had become something I could no longer quite afford.
A colleague mentioned it almost in passing. A method developed in Germany, a cell reactivation approach that works with the body's own natural recovery process, not against it. Not forcing anything from the outside. Giving the body the signal it needs to do what it already knows how to do.
I didn't fully understand it at first. But something in me said yes before my mind could say no.
What it actually involves
Here is what the cell reactivation method is, in plain terms.
It uses small, lightweight plates, you place them directly on your skin, for a few hours a day. The plates interact with your body's own living tissue and help your cells detect their own state and begin to correct it.
What makes this different from standard wellness approaches is what it targets. Most therapies work at the symptom level, the pain, the fatigue, the sleeplessness. This method works one layer below that. At the point where the body's recovery process either runs, or stops.
No medication. No surgery. Nothing taken in or forced through.
It was developed in Germany and has been used there for decades. I was the first to bring it to Ireland, and I trained in it because of what it did for me.
What happened next
The first thing I noticed was my back.
I had lived with that pain for so long it had become background noise. I'd stopped expecting it to change.
Within a few weeks, it was quieter. Then less frequent. Then something I had to actually recall rather than something I carried every day.
The sleep followed. The 3am waking eased. Then stopped being nightly.
And then something I hadn't even realised I'd lost started coming back.
I began thinking more clearly. Making decisions faster. That constant low-level fog I had accepted as part of who I was now, the slower thinking, the second-guessing, the way I had to work twice as hard to do things that used to feel effortless, that lifted too.
I hadn't named it as a symptom. I'd called it getting older. Stress. Just how things were. But it wasn't. It was my body running on empty, and finally getting what it needed to recover.
Why it worked when nothing else did
When we live under sustained pressure, and most of the women I work with have been doing this for years, the body's recovery process starts to quietly shut down. Gradually. Almost invisibly.
Rest doesn't fix it. More sleep doesn't fix it. Because what's switched off isn't at the surface.
The cell reactivation method works at that deeper layer. It gives the body back what it needs to restart its own recovery, from within.
In my next post, I'll talk about something many women have experienced but rarely say out loud: pain that doctors can't find a reason for, and why that doesn't mean nothing is wrong.
